Be Brave, Be YOU
I’m so brave I didn’t even know I had to be anything else.
But I was something else. I was so many other things. Underneath it all I was still me.
I was a bad-ass in a wimpy body.
I was a bad-ass in a wimpy mind.
Today I find my strength in the knowing I don’t need a body or a mind. I am always going to be me.
I’m going to be a pirate on the high seas and the crew will admire me as we crash through the greatest waves of Poseidon’s storms.
I’ll be quiet and deft as I steal treasure from beneath’s Smaug’s nose in day or night or whenever I choose. He will bow down and let me take it while pretending to be asleep rather than take up arms against me and lose.
I will fly through the sky to the stars and back carrying the light in my palm for my niblings to wear around their necks for Christmas.
I am the universe.
I am the fables and the foes and the fun. There is nothing that is not me.
Even you are me. I’ve planted a seed in you that makes you understand that you can be brave too.
You’ll always have a home to come to. I will always be waiting. The roots of that seed are linked to me and through them I will feed you. I will give you all that you need and more.
I will give you the power to make a dream for yourself and to follow it and we’ll all revel in your successes. Those will be wholly yours. I grow the power for you; you decide what and why.
It skates in like a shooting star to be your paintbrush on whatever canvas you’d like. You can grow it for others or keep it all for yourself. Whatever you choose I will be here. I will be drinking tea from France brewed in a cauldron from middle earth and writing poems and spells, laundry lists and bucket lists. I’ll be waiting for you to share it with me.
When my monkey mind is turned off, I can see it all so clearly.
I could be it all so clearly,
if I was brave enough to face the monkey.
