The sky will not always be blue. It will light up at sunset into a masterpiece night at after night in the brightest colors that artists will never recreate. It will burst into visions of fire at sunrise. Demanding attention and bringing warmth in return. Over the night, pricks in the fabric of blackness will make us wonder is that a satellite or the 9:17 from EWR to LAX.

It won’t always be clear. It will be cloudy too. They will look like feathers in an inkwell ready to write a future better than the world we live in now. Whales, and elephants, Peter Pan, and Mickey Mouse, electric guitars, and penises. So many penises. That make us laugh like schoolboys and blush like schoolmarms.

The air will be hot in the summer and cold in the winter and in between we’ll run around in shorts and sweatshirts all day and night. We’ll be laughing and contemplative. There will be bonfires in July on which to torch the dried out Christmas tree around which families gathered in December.

The families would have Jews and Witnesses, Catholics and Christians, Wiccans and Atheists and a few who know that they are all tapping into the same magical place. All that personal belief won’t keep them separate. It will bring them together. They will each be willing to explain that Christ’s tree would always leave room for Buddha. In Sukkot,  there are apples enough to share. Diwali’s light shines on us all. They will be willing to listen with hearing aids on high so they don’t miss a moment of the wisdom other’s offer.

They’ll love who they love. They’ll be who they’ll be.

There will be a One World Government that shares resources. Avacados from the DR to New Jersey. Jersey Tomatoes  to London, French croissants to Belize, Sushi to Nepal.  Our world has never been so small and our small minded-ideas of the past will make us laugh behind our palms as if we believed the world was flat.

And someone will say “It IS flat” but no one will laugh at them. They will listen and understand and agree to disagree.

The global constitution will read only “Be Kind”

We will not need reminders that all men are equal.

We will know that the least among us is a god among gods.

We will know we are all we have.
