ORANGE is where it’s at

It’s the orange glow that lights me up the most. People talk about the passion that comes with red and sure it’s hot, but it’s dangerous too. It’s the place for crimes of passion and who needs that in their life.

Orange is the place of connection. It’s dancing and high wires. It’s joy and laughter. It grabs me by the shoulders and tosses me like a baby into the sky higher than moms are comfortable with and not as high as dads could. I’m caught in a giggle of popcorn parachutes.

You could see me here if you want to come play. I’ll throw you and you’ll throw me. We’ll see-saw back and forth until the air around us glows. We’ll be too tired to breathe and still we won’t stop bubbling. I’ll hold your hand and rub my thumb slowly against your knuckles. One my one, I’ll draw you to me.

I’ll show you a place that lights you from the inside and brings you out to me. We’ll roll and play and in the morning we’ll be sore.

We’ll go play basketball. We’ll dribble up and down the court. Back and forth and checking hips. We won’t take a shot, because we don’t want there to be winners and losers. We just want to be close and alive.

You’ll tuck me in, kiss my forehead and remind me that I’m all I ever needed to be happy, but I’m glad to have you along for the ride.
