You are officially fully cooked! I can’t wait to see where your life as an adult takes you! I hope that you find he smoothest road with the greatest gifts. Love you!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We built our traditions just the four of us, before Daddy had to work on holidays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019d start mixing up pumpkin pies to ease the oven into its job. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Everyone would chip in chopping  onions, mushrooms, celery, potatoes, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Until the kids wandered off to watch the parade\u2019s character balloons and dance routines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We learned about the herders, workers, water dogs, the ridiculous mop dog, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

the poor ones that get combed to perfection <\/p>\n\n\n\n

never allowed to run in the yard and dig in the mud. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We come to the table with growling bellies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grace isn\u2019t a prayer we say, it\u2019s what we offer each other silently. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our plates overflow. We begin with A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m thankful for Angels,  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bananas, Caleb, Dogs,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Excellence, Fruit, Gideon, Hamburgers,  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ice Cream,  Jacob,  Kitkats,  Laura,  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Math,  Nibbles,  Orion, Parents, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quiet, Reunion,  Space, Turkey, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Underoos,  Violet,  Warlusses,  Xanax,  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yellowstone,  Zenith. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every year different guests, different gratitudes, but always connected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some years we moved Thanksgiving to Friday or Saturday around work schedules. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One year, after posting prepping pictures on Facebook, we got a call asking if we had room for guests around this postponed thanksgiving table. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ll always make room for more love at our table. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My youngest is 6,900 miles away today. I gather in someone else\u2019s home. I didn\u2019t bump elbows prepping a meal. We didn\u2019t alphabet our way through gratitude. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He introduced his Girl to the parade and the alphabet this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ll always make more table for our love that carries forward without me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
