Click<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police click<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She lights a cigarette and circles the table<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One way and then the other.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her own fair Scramble under a Bell Jar.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It breaks with the knock on the door.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tick<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She stamps out her smoke. click<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She steels herself against the world<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latch opens, Tick<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The officer need not speak.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He sees in her eyes she knows what he has come to say.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He wonders if he can get away without saying it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can this moment of unspoken understanding be enough.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Click<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou\u2019ll need to identify him at the hospital, ma\u2019am\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She nods, but doesn\u2019t break.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She grabs her coat and her keys and follows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the last time she is whole.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When she returns, the dawn has cracked.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And she has cracked with it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She is a jigsaw of pieces<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Solved into one whole being.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This night has not just carved away son\u2019s one piece.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It unstitched all the seams.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pulled the piece from her heart,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lines all crease deeper.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There isn\u2019t a glue that binds them to be framed and hung on the wall.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tears come slowly<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nothing sticks when it\u2019s wet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the day the clock has stopped not only for him,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For her too.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every smile will be shorter<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every laugh thinner<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every joy\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">there won\u2019t be any of that.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She doesn\u2019t scramble \u2018round the kitchen&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She just sits in his bed&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Holding Moondoggie who felt the loss of the boy many years ago<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He had given his left eye to be the boy\u2019s faithful companion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And when he got left behind for the last time,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He\u2019d have given his right for one more day<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tonight they\u2019d cry together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tock<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">10-14 400 words no edits<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The clock ticks, clicks, Tick click &nbsp;Click tick And spins a golden dance&nbsp;
